I just talked with Mom, who is very excited about Ashleigh’s progress. She’s still off the anti-rejection drugs and even though her immune system has kicked back on it hasn’t rejected the liver nor has she gotten any new infections! The doctors continue to turn down the ventilator and they hope to start taking her off of it for brief periods starting next week. Mom was especially excited about Ashleigh’s regained awareness – she’s able to focus her eyes now and respond with gestures and facial expressions. She even held Mom’s hand for a while today and stroked Mom’s arm.
