Wow, what a day. Ashleigh’s heart stopped twice this morning. She is now back in PICU in an induced coma with a ventilator. *sigh*

This morning her favorite doctor came in to check up on her. As he left the room a nurse came in to help Ashleigh out of bed. Once she was standing all of a sudden she slumped over and started turning blue. The nurse pushed the code blue button and Ashleigh’s doctor came right back in and started CPR. They brought her back but then her heart stopped again! They took her to PICU and worked on her all day. They gave her many blood products (blood, platelets, etc.), three different antibiotics, and epinephrine, to name a few. Her chemistry is all out of whack again, like it was the last time this happened (see post). And again, the medical team has no idea what caused it.

I was thinking today, hindsight is an incredible gift. I’ve been reading the book of Ruth and what God did through her (here’s a brief synopsis). She went through some really hard times and couldn’t see how it would all work out, nevertheless she trusted in God. In the end, Ruth became a part of the lineage of David and thus Jesus. Using hindsight we can see how incredible Ruth’s story is and how it played a part in the bigger picture. We don’t have the same hindsight in Ashleigh’s case, so it can be hard to understand why all this is happening the way it is. But God has had a plan before he even created the earth, so I know everything will all work out in the end. But I am very curious to see how Ashleigh’s life plays a part in the bigger picture.
