This past weekend we traveled to Tulsa, OK, for the annual Tulsa Soul Winning Workshop. It is a Christian workshop sponsored by the churches of Christ. Thousands of people come from all over the country to see the exhibits, hear excellent and challenging lessons, listen to awesome a capella singing groups, and so much more!
The theme this year was “Jesus, the Model, the Mission”. A lot of lessons we heard talked about Jesus doing good deeds for others and ways that we can do good deeds in our communities. That really got us excited to step up our volunteering work and get more people at our congregation involved!
We also spent some time touring Tulsa. We ate at the obligatory Casa Viva (formerly Casa Bonita), the famous Spaghetti Warehouse, and experienced the Center of the Universe. The Center of the Universe is on a pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks in downtown. When you stand in the center of the brick circle and speak your voice is amplified and echoes! But the moment you step outside the circle the echo is gone. Since the echo made it sound like we were miked, Tim & Sharon and Ryan & I sang a verse and chorus from Our God, He is Alive (we call this song our church of Christ theme song!).
